9/20/23 - Student Marketing Association Fall Kickoff!
WELCOME TO THE STUDENT MARKETING ASSOCIATION! Dominos and Canes were enjoyed as we introduced what being involved with SMA is all about! We closed with an intense brand trivia game and had three lucky Starbucks gift card winners.

10/4/2023 - Career Week Prep with Shontel Smith and Master's of Marketing Q&A!
This week was all about the Master's of Marketing Program and preparing for the Career Fair! Claire Johnson (msmk@umn.edu) told us what a "Master in Marketing" degree looks like at Carlson and concluded with a Q&A. Following, Carlson School Career Coach Shontel Smith presented about different paths in marketing, how to brand yourself, and general advice on preparing for your job search.

10/11/2023 - Agency vs. In-House with Alyx Orstad from General Mills
This week, we heard from Alyx Orstad, an instructor at the Hubbard School of Journalism and a Brand Experience Assistant Manager at General Mills. Orstad has had experience with both advertising agencies and in-house marketing, and she shared her knowledge of both fields with us!

10/18/2023 - Halloween Social
This week we watched Charlie Brown Halloween as a group and our viewing was accompanied with snacks and the company of other SMA members!
10/25/2023 - Net Impact Collab Meeting
This week we met with Net Impact, a sustainability club. Using a Shark Tank approach we had a blast working together to create products that were sustainable without greenwashing. We presented our findings to "business owners" and Starbucks gift cards were given to the winners! Pizza was enjoyed :)
11/1/2023 - Procter & Gamble Meeting with Griffin Vanze
This week we had a fun time enjoying Jimmy Johns while listening to Griffin Vanze talk about his career journey and current job at P&G. After, Griffin showed us some of his favorite advertisements and we had fun critiquing them together.

11/8/2023 - Bowling with Women in Business
This week we met with the Women in Business club at Goldy’s Gameroom to bowl together! We enjoyed pizza and meeting new people that are in other Carlson clubs. Those who got strikes were recognized on our instagram!
11/15/2023 - Thanksgiving Social
This week we had a fun time playing jeopardy and watching Charlie Brown Thanksgiving with a side of Thanksgiving snacks! We got to test and enjoy Fanta's brand new drink tonight as well, how exciting!?
11/29/2023 - Carmichael Lynch Meeting with Stacy Janicki
This week we heard from Stacy Janicki who is the Director of Account Management at Carmichael Lynch. Stacy discussed current and past projects they have worked on, with videos included! We were also lucky enough to hear an overview of a day in her role!
12/6/2023 - RBC Wealth Management Meeting with Sean Kellenberger
This week Chipotle was enjoyed while Sean Kellenberger provided us with an overview of what RBC works on, consisting of their connections with Major League Soccer and the Professional Golfers' Association. Sean then gave us marketing and career insights for the future!

1/24/2024 - Kickoff Meeting
This week we had Canes and Dominos with a kickoff into the new semester! The new board was able to introduce themselves while talking about upcoming events. We closed the meeting with fun questions getting to know each other more! We can't wait to see everyone soon!

2/2/2024 - Headshots
This week we went to the Timberwolves game! Our Student Marketing Association had a great turnout while we enjoyed amazing food! The Timberwolves have been having a great season, so we saw a fun win as well! Don't forget we have the headshots on Friday in the Hanson skyway!
2/14/2024 - Super Bowl Ads Recap
This week we enjoyed yummy snacks while watching our favorite Super Bowl Ads! We saw some of our favorites while seeing some of the ones that weren't as appealing as well. Our Student Marketing Association was able to get more insight about the Geo-case competition coming up. This meeting is always a fan favorite!
2/22/2024 - Speaker Meeting with Robin
Our team enjoyed some delicious pizza while we heard Robin Dybevik speak about her experience at Netflix! She is a former student at the University of Minnesota who gave amazing advice about networking. Not only was she helpful about networking, but Robin explained her roles and how she was able to work her way up the scale! Robin is truly an inspiration for the students in this association!
2/28/2024 - Collab with Compass
Today we collaborated with the Carlson Club Compass and enjoyed Coca-Cola's new flavor with some delicious snacks! During this meeting, we did homework, socialized, and watched a movie together. There is no meeting next week because of Spring break. What a great way to start off the break!
3/20/2024 - Speaker Meeting with Mary
This meeting we enjoyed Jimmy Johns's subs while listening to our speaker, Mary Zahn. She gave everyone amazing advice on how to navigate jobs and internships. Mary also explained where she started in the job process to get to Aveda. Mary then dove into a product she has been working at in Aveda: scalp solutions. As a former Carlson student herself, she was able to inspire all of us! Congratulations to all of the Geo Case Winners!

3/27/2024 - Alumni Panel with SMA
At this meeting, we had yummy pizza with our Alumni from SMA who came to answer questions about the real world. They gave us great advice on how to navigate the real world and jobs. We also asked a lot of questions while catching up with them. To wrap it up, we made a funny reel with the alumni! Overall, we enjoyed catching up with everyone!
4/09/2024 - Collab with SAFA
During this meeting, we enjoyed Chipotle while collaborating with the Student Accounting and Finance Association (SAFA) with a mini case competition. Students got into small teams to analyze and present how Robinhood can attract new users to its platform. Overall, we learned so much from each other and had such a fun meeting!
4/10/2024 - Collab with BBoard and
speaker meeting with Alisa Haman
This meeting we enjoyed delicious donuts while listening to our speaker, Alisa Haman. She works for Adobe as a product manager who has lots of experience in the editing field. Alisa instructed us on a case competition that Adobe could implement for a new marketing campaign. Our association learned so much about case competitions and Adobe. Alisa made this such a fun and collaborative meeting!
4/17/2024 - Collab with WIB
For this meeting, we collaborated with the association, Women In Business. We all talked about negotiating salaries as women in the workplace. This was helpful for both the men and women in our association. Both of our clubs enjoyed the yummy, small-business Wally's! We ended the meeting with an interactive jeopardy to close it out. Thank you WIB for the amazing advice!
4/24/2024 - Last Meeting!
Sadly, this was the last meeting with our amazing seniors. They have been excellent mentors to us in and out of the marketing world. Our team celebrated them by playing fun games and giving them cards with treats. You guys are the best! Finally, our team brought our award of the best club of the year to this meeting to celebrate everyone's hard work!
